The San Francisco Do Not Mail Resolution passed its committee hearing, and is on its way to the full city Board of Supervisors next Tuesday, March 31 for an official vote!!!
Support at the hearing for the Do Not Mail Resolution was overwhelming. Small business owners, activists, fed-up citizens, and a few of us from ForestEthics gave testimony. The committee also heard from recalcitrant postal workers, as well as printers and direct marketers on behalf of the direct mail industry.
After nearly three hours of testimony, the committee sided with common sense, consumer choice and a less wasteful future. This is a victory for San Francisco and a victory for anyone who wants the right to choose whether or not to receive junk mail.
Onward, to next week’s final vote! To stay tuned for more updates on the Do Not Mail campaign, subscribe to our RSS feed, follow us on Twitter, or become a Facebook Fan!
